Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using viruspurge.com (the "Service") operated by Virus Purge ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Virus Purge provides an online antivirus file scanning service, enabling users to check files for viruses, malware, and other malicious content. The Service is available in a free tier and a Premium subscription tier, as described on the Pricing page.

Virus Purge is using a signature-based antivirus engine and cannot guarantee detection of every threat, particularly zero-day or polymorphic malware. The Service is provided as a convenience and as an additional security signal — it is not a substitute for endpoint protection or other defensive controls. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time with reasonable notice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts

Some features require a registered account. You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate and current registration information.
• Maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
• All activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
• Submit files that you do not have the right to scan (e.g. files containing confidential data belonging to others).
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security measures.
• Use the Service to develop, test, or distribute malware.
• Engage in automated access (bots, scrapers) except through our official API with our written permission.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or servers.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

5.1 Billing

Premium subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By providing payment details you authorise us to charge the applicable fees.

5.2 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your Dashboard. Upon cancellation you will retain Premium access until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time, except where required by applicable law.

5.3 Refunds

Requests for refunds should be sent to [email protected] within 14 days of charge. EU/UK consumers have statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Rights Directive; where applicable we will honour those rights.

5.4 Price changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days’ advance notice delivered by email.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on the Service — including text, graphics, logos, and software — is owned by or licensed to Virus Purge and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

You retain all rights to files you submit for scanning. By submitting a file you grant us only the transient right to process it in memory for the purpose of performing the scan. No file content is stored, shared, or retained.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scan results will be 100% accurate. Antivirus scanning is one layer of a security strategy and should not be relied upon as the sole means of protection.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VIRUS PURGE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF €100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain types of damage. In those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Virus Purge and its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the jurisdiction in which Virus Purge is established. EU consumers may also rely on the mandatory consumer protection provisions of their country of residence.

11. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy , which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Upon termination your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page with an updated "Last updated" date, and by emailing registered users. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
